Friday afternoon’s sessions of the Mediterrane Film Festival’s inaugural Content Creation Conference kicked off with an engaging talk from UK-based leading influencers, Itzshauni and Jakebsweet, about building online communities and growing your follower base.
The discussion with moderator Keith Demicoli began by the pair sharing their journeys in content creation, before diving into some of the ways aspiring influencers and digital marketers can achieve success with their content.
They shared valuable tips and tricks with the audience and explained that consistency is vital to grow your community, and that platforms such as YouTube and TikTok can offer a huge database for inspiration when looking for content ideas. Itzshauni also touched upon how she finds inspiration all around her, even in the supermarket.
The session went on to address the importance of finding your niche, with Jakebswee advising the most effective way to do this is by experimenting with content ideas around existing hobbies and interests, such as gaming. He also recommended finding others who are currently successful in this niche and replicate what they are doing.
Throughout the conversation, they also discussed how to foster an online community, with key tips including asking viewers questions as part of your content to drive engagement and treating them as family. Jakebsweet also highlighted the importance of building on short-form content creation by looking at longer-form videos to help foster communities.
For businesses, including in the film and TV space, the duo spoke about the importance of taking audiences behind the scenes and lifting the curtain on the inner workings of your business – which is what viewers really love to see. To round out the session, the pair left the audience with key takeaways to create and sustain an online community – stay determined, be ambitious and keep authentic to yourself and your content.
