The Mediterrane Film Festival’s Content Creation Conference continued with an exclusive one-on-one session with former professional footballer and current social media star Patrice Evra, moderated by journalist Rafa Sales Ross.
The session explored Patrice’s journey from the football pitch to becoming a social media star with almost 14M Instagram followers, and how he has taken lessons that he learned on the pitch and adapted them to become a positive influence on his audience, such as self-discipline and resilience.
Evra explained that his transition towards social media came off the back of a desire to combat false accounts that were impersonating him, and through sharing his personality online, staying positive and being kind, he grew his audience to create the huge platform that he has today.
The session highlighted the importance of being a people person when being a content creator, and Evra asserted that his current profession has revealed this side to the public that had previously been constrained by the pressures placed on footballers to focus on their game.
Discussions touched on toxic masculinity in the footballing world, and the ways in which Evra has combatted this, with Evra sharing that his family background with a large number of siblings meant that sharing was always something that came naturally.
He highlighted how his belief in good energy and following your dreams is the best method to succeeding in doing something that you love, using the example of his popular Monday Motivation videos to demonstrate how authenticity and positivity can capture and engage audiences and keep them returning to your platform.
